This oasis situated on the banks of the dry Uniab River provides multiple accommodation options, from chalets to Meru-style tens and a unique family unit, all decorated in individual, tasteful style. A swimming pool, restaurant and cozy pool bar make this an ideal base for exploring the vast concession and its surprising array of wildlife in Namibia’s dramatic north-west region.

Doro Nawas Camp

Lies on the edge of the dry Aba-Huab River with glorious views of the rugged Damaraland area. Its natural walled units, the design and décor blending in with the surrounding scenery, each have a bedroom, en-suite bathroom and a veranda for stargazing or sleep outs. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, a pool area and bar. The lodge provides an excellent base for exploring the local area in search of desert-adapted elephants, combining a safari experience with economic empowerment for the local community. Guests can view Africa’s largest collection of petroglyphs – prehistoric rock engravings – and San rock art at Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first World Heritage Site.

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge
