I Dream Africa

Maltahohe is situated in the midst of an area where farms are scattered far apart.

The Nama living here founded the ‘Oahera Art’ market, where visitors can watch the people skillfully produce pillow covers, bracelets, and many other craft pieces of local design.

This little town at the edge of the Schwarzrand Plateau, rising 1400 m above sea level, was founded around the turn of the previous century. It was named after Malta, the wife of Henning von Burgsdorf, who was in command of the German colonial troops stationed in Gibeon.
