4x4 SELF DRIVE : KALAHARI
Dordabis area / vicinity of Mata Mata gate
Depart for the Mata Mata gate area. The Mata Mata Gate, the border post between South Africa and Namibia in the Kalahari.
Vicinity of Mata Mata gate / Kgalagadi National Park
You can enjoy nature drives in the Park with your hired vehicle. There is a small shop available at the camp for provisions should you wish to overnight.
Kgalagadi National Park
The next two days can be dedicated to Game drives in the Kgalagadi National Park with your hired vehicle. You can overnight at Nossob or at Twee Rivieren (restaurant available at Camp).
Kgalagadi National Park / Keetmanshoop
En route to Namibia, either driving back through the Park or via the Ariamsvlei Border. We suggest a visit to the Quiver Tree Forest and at Giant’s Playground, in the vicinity of Keetmanshoop.
Keetmanshoop / Fish River Canyon
We suggest you stop at the viewpoints over the Fish River Canyon at Hobas, which allow for amazing views down into the depths of the second largest canyon in the World.
Fish River Canyon / Klein Aus Vista
Klein Aus Vista is home of the feral horses of the Namib.
Klein Aus Vista
We would suggest a day excursion to Lüderitz with a visit to Diaz Point and at Kolmanskop Ghost Town.
Sesriem area - Sossusvlei
The Namib Desert is reputed to be the oldest Desert in the World, with some of the highest sand dunes found at Sossusvlei. An early morning excursion to Sossusvlei and visit of the Sesriem Canyon.
Sesriem area / Swakopmund
Depart for the coastal town Swakopmund, Namibia’s playground.
En route you could plan the Welwitschia Drive, with some of the oldest examples of this ‘living fossil’ dwarf tree and stop at the viewpoints over the Moon Valley.
Swakopmund
You can choose to spend the entire day at leisure to explore the little slice of Bavaria that is Swakopmund, or visit the Walvis Bay lagoon for optional activities. These include, but are not limited to: such as scenic flights, boat excursions on the Walvis Bay lagoon, quad-bikes, sand-boarding, sky-diving and ‘zorbing’.
Swakopmund / Windhoek
Suggested stop at the Okahandja Craft Market en route and visit the craft markets in Windhoek.
