Namibia

Situated in Southern Africa, the relatively undiscovered Republic of Namibia lies between Angola, Zambia, North Botswana and South Africa. The country is home to a number of National Parks, deserts and Nature Reserves, so is the perfect destination for a safari adventure. Like many sub-Saharan countries, Namibia experiences its winter season during May to October, however don’t let this put you off- the weather is actually drier during these seasons as opposed to their summer months. With the official language being English, communication in Namibia is never a source of worry. As for the activities available, there are a mixture of scenic and safari-type excursions on offer. Some popular places to visit are Fish River Canyon, Caprivi Strip, Skeleton Coast Park and Sossusvlei. For an even more unique experience, there is the option of renting a hut within one of the nature reserves. Etosha National Park is particularly known for being a popular choice of holiday-makers wanting to experience this proximity to nature overnight. For a bird’s eye view of Namibia’s beautiful landscape, one of the many hot air balloon tours allow visitors to soak in the desert plains from above. Try going at either dawn or dusk- and don’t forget to take a camera!
