The Fish River Canyon is reputedly the second largest canyon in the world and one of the most striking attractions in Namibia. This formation formed millions of years ago when there were irregular movements in the earth’s crust - and today lends a spectacular view for the nature lover. Though the area might seem barren, quiver trees grow on the plains and you can expect to see zebra and baboons in the cliffs of the Fish River Canyon. For the brave of heart, there is a 85 km hiking trail that takes you into the Canyon and leads you over a course of 4 or 5 days to the Ai-Ais hot springs resort. Due to the extreme temperatures in summer, the hike only can be undertaken between April and September
