Khorixas |
|
Khorixas, situated about 150km west of Outjo, was the administrative capital of the Damara people in the previously political dispensation in Namibia. It has retained its function as a larger regional town and the majority of its inhabitants refer to themselves as Damaras.
The town has a high unemployment rate and the hinterland is dry and tough, which yields little in terms of mining or agriculture like elsewhere in the country. This is the last major town en route to Damaraland.
