Opuwo is situated in the Kaokoland, Namibia and is an ideal stop-over en-route to the remote Epupa Falls. From here you are also able to visit a local Himba tribe. A stop at Opuwo should be used to refuel and restock on water and snacks, as only wilderness area surrounds this very small town. Should you plan to visit a Himba village, it is a good idea to buy maize meal and other items of sustenance as a thank you gift for being able to visit the tribe and to take pictures.
