Welcome to Tsumeb

Situated in north eastern Namibia, Tsumeb is Namibia's colourful garden town with Jacaranda and Flamboyant trees that line the streets.
The town of Tsumeb was founded in 1905 and was primarly a mining town. However, the mining activity in Tsumeb has scaled down considerably and reminiscences of the prosperous mining era can be viewed in the Tsumeb Museum.
Taking a short drive outside of Tsumeb, you will be able to visit the Otjikoto Lake. This easily can be fit into your itinerary if you are enroute to the eastern part of the Etosha National Park.
A drive to the next town, Grootfontein, can take you the largest complete meteorite ever known to hit planet Earth. The Hoba Meteorite landed here about 80 000 years ago and because of it's size has stayed on the exact same spot ever since.

Did You Know?

  • The largest known underground lake in the world, called Dragon’s Breath, is found on a private farm close to Tsumeb. This lake is not open to the public yet.
