Sossus / Sesriem is situated in the Namib Nama and succulent Karoo Desert and is famous for :

  • Highest sand dunes in the world
  • Dead Pan – carbon dated 500-600 million years old
  • Sesriem Canyon
  • Nara (acanthosicyos horridus)
  • Dune lark – ‘true’ endemic in Namibia
  • Cape ground Squirrel

Sossusvlei Lodge

Sossusvlei Lodge is situated on a 40,000 hectare private reserve directly adjacent to the Sesriem gate of the Namib Naukluft Park that is sanctuary to the highest dunes in the oldest desert. Accommodation comprises 45x separate en suite double bedrooms and 3x family units, each fully air conditioned and with a fridge and coffee and tea making amenities. Facilities include a restaurant, conference and recreation centre, al fresco terrace, floodlit waterhole, unique bar, swimming pool and curio shop. The Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre provides various planned activities of discovery into the Sossusvlei area and includes guided Sossusvlei trips, nature drives, sundowner trips, bush dinners, guided nature walks, hot air ballooning, eco-friendly quad biking, indoor and outdoor conferencing, scenic flights as well as charter and scheduled air taxi flights. Sossusvlei Lodge is known for the best dinner buffets in Namibia.

Zebra River Lodge

Situated on the D850, 19km from the intersection with the D854.

Nestled against the ridges of the Zebra River Canyon is the Tsaris Mountains you will find this very unique place. Enjoy the breathtaking landscape which has not changed for millions of years and listen to the silence. Explore various hiking trails through deep canyons and over vast plains. Relax at the lodge with excellent homemade cuisine, refreshing drinks and nice company. Our spacious well appointed en suite rooms offer quiet nights with only the sound of nature around you.

Mountain Homestead – previously Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp

Mountain Homestead used to be called Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp, but reopened on 1st July 2010 under new management. It is situated 34 kilometres from Sesriem, the entrance to Sossusvlei. The camp is situated on the 21,000ha Kulala Wilderness Reserve with wonderful desert scenery. It affords access to Sossusvlei, but also offers privacy and exclusivity. The property harbours vast desert plains and rugged mountains with views onto the dunes in the distance.

Mountain Homestead has been built near the top of a mountain, using natural materials of brick, rock, timber and thatch, and provides a refuge from the desert. It is the ideal destination for visitors who wish to see the dunes of Sossusvlei without having to travel large distances once in the Namib Desert to see them.

The main living area at Mountain Homestead is under thatch with a pool. The lodge offers an outdoor deck where guests enjoy dinner under the stars and a dedicated stargazing platform with a powerful telescope for those keen on admiring the night skies.

Accommodation is on one of only 9 guest rooms, each with its own private plunge pool. They are superbly appointed and offer comfort and atmosphere. The en-suite bathrooms also have panoramic views overlooking the plains below and have hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets.

On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, the Namib, this is not a game rich area, however springbok, oryx and ostrich manage to survive in these harsh conditions. Night drives using spotlights offer sightings of Cape fox, aardwolf, black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox and even the odd spotted hyena.

Wolwedans Dunes Lodge

The Wolwedans Dunes Lodge aims at providing a unique experience close to nature, yet without compromising comfort and style. The entire lodge is constructed on wooden platform and overlooks panoramic vistas in all directions, capturing the desert in an intimate and memorable way. The building style is a combination of wooden poles and large canvas blinds and windows that open up to the desert beyond. The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building.

Each of the eight spacious chalets with en suite bathrooms leads onto a private verandah and stretches of untouched sand. Careful selection of furniture, light coloured linen as well as the selection of accessories gives the lodge a distinct natural charm. The main complex, also built on stilts, consists of a bar and lounge, sundowner decks with a fireplace and a spacious dining room. All communal areas open out onto a verandah with a superb view of the surroundings. Five chalets are directly accessible from the main complex by wooden walkways, also easily accessible for elderly and handicapped guests.
